Musical Theatre Masterclass is a boutique studio situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands region of Paarl.
We offer training in musical theatre, focusing on that all important ‘triple threat’ skill, our students are equipped with the ability to sing, dance and act.
With our training program taught by industry professionals we offer an experience like no other where your teens and little ones can surround themselves with all things theatrical.
Of course, one does not need to pursue a career in the arts to have fun here at MTM. We aim to build to confidence, self-esteem, concentration, focus, discipline and team-work in all our students. We are passionate about building confident young performers in all facets of the arts.

DANE MARAIS
Producer | Music Director
Dane has always wanted to be a performer and creative. His love for performing started at a very young age, which led him to studying four years as a full-time student at the Waterfront Theatre School where he obtained his international qualifications in Musical Theatre, Speech & Drama and Dance.
He has also performed in numerous theatrical productions at the Artscape Theatre and abroad such as ‘Fiddler on the Roof’, ‘Oklahoma’ and ‘All the World’s a Stage’, ‘High School Musical’ to name a few. He has also done various short films and TV commercials both locally and internationally.
In 2017, he decided to take a leap of faith and open his own small business in Paarl called ‘The Musical Theatre Masterclass’. He opened the studio with the sole purpose of training a young generation of child performers who share a passion and love for performing in all aspects of dramatic arts. He uses his knowledge, expertise and experience in this field as a performer and teacher to train his students while building confidence, discipline, self-esteem and team-work, igniting a small flame in his students. Dane also serves as resident music director, producer and sound engineer for MTM.
MIKA CALITZ
Musical Theatre / Drama Teacher
Mika Calitz is a dedicated educator and performer with a rich background in performing arts. He holds a diploma in Musical Theatre training and a Trinity London L.T.C.L in Speech and Drama from the prestigious Waterfront Theatre School.
Following his formal training, Mika discovered his passion for teaching while actively performing during the initial years of his career. Mika has also starred in Spring Awakening the musical at the Artscape Theatre in 2019. Since then, he has devoted himself to nurturing the talents of children and teenagers in the realm of performing arts.
Currently serving as the Drama teacher at four esteemed educational institutions across Cape Town, Mika is deeply committed to fostering a culture of creativity and excellence in his students. His dynamic approach to teaching ensures that each student receives personalized attention and guidance to unlock their full potential.
Looking ahead, Mika is excited to continue his mission of empowering young performers.
HANNAH VAN LENNEP
Dance Choreographer
Hannah began dancing at the age of four under Michele Pope Du Preez, quickly developing a love for both performance and choreography. While still at school, she won numerous awards for her own choreography and dancing, training in ballet, modern, contemporary, musical theatre, and tap.
In 2021, she joined the Waterfront Theatre School, where she continued to earn top awards, including Best Overall Choreographer and Best Dancer in her final year.
Since graduating with a major in dance, Hannah has performed internationally with Richard Loring’s African Footprint in Dubai and cheered for the IPL Mumbai Indians in India. With passion and versatility, she is excited to continue building a career that celebrates storytelling through movement.
